The Jets have traded their last sixth-round pick, No. 211, and subsequently have added another cornerback who previously played for the Indianapolis Colts. According to the team, this is Quincy Wilson, a fourth-year player out of Florida.
In three years with the Colts, Wilson has started a total of ten games, including zero last year. His 2019 campaign was his worst in the league, recording nine appearances and allowing a passer rating of 144.9 in coverage. Pro Football Focus valued his grade at 30.2, half of his 2017 evaluation.
The good news? He was way more impressive in the previous two seasons. In 2018, he had merely 82.7 allowed passer rating and a PFF grade of 69.9. He had one interception in both 2017 and 2018 and recorded six defended passes in 2017.
Quincy Wilson is owed $1,251,310 during the last season of his rookie deal.
Previously, New York signed former Colts starting corner Pierre Desir to a one-year deal. Earlier today, with a fifth-round pick, they added another piece to the secondary, selecting Virginia cornerback Bryan Hall. The team also re-signed returning corners Brian Poole and Arthur Maulet to contract lasting one year each.
The move of Pick 211 also rounds up the 2020 NFL Draft class for the Jets after a busy day that saw them use three fourth-round selections and another pick in the fifth round. Joe Douglas’s staff also picked Mekhi Becton, Denzel Mims, Ashtyn Davis and Jabari Zuniga.
