Ryan Pace continues to build the defense. Safety Tashaun Gipson agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears via Pro Football Talk.

The Bears had one hole on their defense and Pace went out and addressed it by adding Tashaun Gipson. Gipson is an eight-year veteran who has spent time in Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Houston. He was apart of the Jacksonville team that made the AFC Championship. The Bears did not address safety in the NFL Draft.

Gipson is a flexible safety that can play both strong and free. He is a perfect fit to play alongside All-Pro free safety Eddie Jackson. The Houston Texans released Gipson after a short period of time with them. He will likely compete for the starting job with Deon Bush, who has been a long-time backup.

Back in 2014, Gipson was a Pro Bowler for the Cleveland Browns after playing 11 games for them and grabbing six interceptions. He returned one of those for a touchdown. Gipson now brings the Bears’ roster to 90 players with the addition of wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. earlier today.
