The New England Patriots have signed Virginia Tech tight end, Dalton Keene, to a four-year $4,057,645 contract, including an $832,294 signing bonus. The Patriots picked Keene in the third round, at the 101st overall pick, in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Dalton Keene’s College Stats
Dalton Keene played for the Virginia Tech Hokies as a tight end for his freshman, sophomore, and junior years of college. In his most recent season as a junior, Keene played in ten of the games. He made 21 receptions for a total of 240 yards. Keene’s average receiving yards per reception was 11.4 yards. He got a total of five touchdowns.
Keene is a versatile player that performs well in-line, as a wingback, from the slot, as a fullback, and even as a personal protector in pass protection. Keene has a lean body, and his playing speed and competitiveness are a big plus. He should struggle a little with NFL power at the point of attack, but his ability to block in space and make a catch will allow teams to align him around the formation as needed. Keene should be able to fit into a core special teams role, but he is inexperienced in that area. He has the mental makeup and great play traits.
