Nick Gonzales is one of the best generational talents in college baseball and is waiting for the MLB draft. Though High School he was a high prospect and continued his dominance in his three seasons at New Mexico State. His statistics and accolades speaks for itself but it was the shortened 2020 season that made him famous.

Nick Gonzales accolades and stats

Nick Gonzales player of the month

In 2018 as a freshman, the second baseman earned Western Athletic Conference freshman of the year and first-team all conference. He followed this up with winning the NCAA batting title with a .432 batting average in 2019. That followed by becoming the Cape Cod League MVP also in 2019.

In Nick Gonzales’ freshman year he had no problem adjusting to the college game. His batting average was .347 while having a on base percentage of .425. He had a slugging percentage of .596 while belting 9 homeruns and 36 RBIs.

In his Sophomore season he only got better. He had a batting average of .432 with a on base percentage of .532. His slugging percentage was .773 while hitting 16 homeruns and 80 RBIs.

The legendary season

The 2020 season only played 16 games but it was the best offensive display ever in college baseball. It was too bad it ended early due to the coronavirus.

Nick Gonzales posted ungodly numbers during the 16 game stint. He batted .448 while his on base percentage skyrocketed to .610. His slugging percentage was at a 1.155 while crushing 12 homeruns and 26 RBIs. He was named National Player Of The Month before the season was postponed.

What is next?

Nick Gonzales is no doubt a top five draft talent. Although the draft is uncertain he will be waiting to play in the Major Leagues jumpstarting his pro career. Which team will select this generational talent? How soon will he start? With a lifetime batting average of .399 I’m sure someone would benefit.
