After years of futility, The Buffalo Bills are back to being legitimate contenders once again. Can the team live up to their lofty expectations and prove the experts and their fanbase, right?
Buffalo Bills are The ‘Team to Beat" in the AFC East

Legendary Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Jim Kelly, recently made an appearance on "The Zach Gelb Show" and talked about the Bills’ chances of winning the AFC East for the first time since 1995.
“If they don"t (win the AFC East), then something"s wrong," Kelly said to Zach Gelb on CBS Sports Radio last weekend.
Here are some of Jim Kelly"s comments during the show.
"I don’t know why. But now that Brady’s gone, I do think the Bills are the team to beat, even though you look at the Jets, they’re getting better," Kelly added. "Miami with Tua [Tagovailoa] coming in, I think they’re going to be better. And of course, [Bill] Belichick will have his team ready to play. So we’ll see what happens at the quarterback position in New England."
The truth is that Jim Kelly is not alone in his feelings about Buffalo"s chances in 2020. Bills Mafia and experts out there believe that the team"s poised for a championship run. Some experts like, NFL.com"s, Adam Schein even went as far as to proclaim that the Bills are a candidate to become the NFL"s next great dynasty.
One could argue that no team in the NFL has more pressure on them to succeed this coming season than the Bills. The expectations are lofty and rightfully so. Still, The Bills have not won a division title or playoff game in nearly a quarter of a century.
Thanks to a legendary sportscaster, Chris Berman, and others. “Circle the wagons" is a famous phrase for Bills fans. The literal meaning is members of a team working together to protect themselves from outside danger.
The most significant danger to the Bills" success in 2020, may very well be the pressure that comes from the outside. However, circling the wagons may also mean protecting against putting the cart before the horse. Bills players, like newly acquired defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, are talking up the teams" winning culture and chances. The aura around the Bills franchise has drastically changed in recent years.
Complacency can be a sports team"s most significant enemy. It"s a danger that Buffalo needs to guard itself against. You get the sense from the Bills players and coaches that they"ve already made it as legit contenders. The franchise expects to succeed. As a result, there is more pressure than usual on the inside of the team to win this year.
No one can be more inside the heart of Buffalo than Jim Kelly. He is merely echoing the sentiments of everyone who follows the franchise. It"s been a long time coming. The Bills are in the SuperBowl window, and one of the leaders who took them there in the past can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
