We have all heard about A.J. Green this offseason. The big contract the Browns offered to bring him in and the “mountain on my shoulder” comment. We all know how excited the Browns scouts and coaches were to get him. What most may not know is that the Browns, per Terry Pluto at cleveland.com, are high on another of their undrafted free agents. Per Terry, the Browns “are very excited to see if Liberty safety Elijah Benton will look as good on the field as he did on video.” From the sounds of it, the coaches will be watching Benton closely once they can get on the field.
Another Undrafted Free Agent the Browns are Excited About
Elijah Benton

Benton produced a strong senior campaign for the Flames with 85 total tackles, 52 solo tackles, 2.5 loss, one interception, and one sack. He also added seven passes defended which shows the ability to make plays in coverage. Benton’s overall total of 161 tackles over the last two years speaks to a player not afraid of physical play. Benton is an intelligent player with the size and speed to make plays all over the field as he did at Liberty. It is easy to see why the Browns scouts and coaches are excited about Benton.
It is always fun to watch the underdog fight and claw its way to victory. Browns fans may want to keep an eye on the young man out of Liberty University to do just that. He made an impression on film with the Browns staff to get signed. Now Benton must impress them all over again when camps finally get going. Could the Browns have two undrafted free agents on the roster this season?
