On Monday, MLB announced the 60-game schedule for all 30 clubs. The Kansas City Royals 2020 schedule is very intriguing in this brisk played season. The team just started summer camp back on July 3rd and is currently preparing to start the season on July 24th. Here is what the Kansas City Royals 2020 schedule will look like.
Who The Royals Will Play
The Royals will play a total of 9 different teams during the 2020 season. This will include 10 games each against their normal AL Central opponents (Twins, White Sox, Tigers, and Indians). For the other 20 games, they will be competing against the NL Central. They will play 2 home and home games vs. Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds. The Pittsburgh Pirates will come to Kansas City for a 3-game set and the Royals will go to Milwaukee to battle the Brewers in a 3-game series. The St. Louis Cardinals are a different story. The Royals will play them 6 times (3 in St. Louis and 3 in Kansas City).
Opening Day And Home Opener
The Royals announced today that on Opening Day, they will be taking on the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. That will be a 3-game series in Cleveland. After that, they will head to Detroit and take on the Tigers in a 4-game set. Yes, this means the Royals will be playing their first seven games on the road to start the 2020 campaign.
On July 31st, the Royals will play their home-opener against the Chicago White Sox. The first few weeks of the season are going to be pivotal to the Royals. Thru August 6th, the Kansas City Royals have the 4th easiest schedule based on 2019 records. So if the Royals can find a groove out of the gate, things could get interesting. It should be noted, the Royals will have 6 off days during the season as well. Also, they will have two stretches where they will play 17-straight days without an off day.
