Another top talent has joined the NBA G League. Five star Jonathan Kuminga will join the G League and will skip college basketball. He chose the G League over Texas Tech, Auburn, Kentucky, and Duke. Kuminga will reclassify to the class of 2020.
Jonathan Kuminga is a 6’8 forward who can score the ball anytime he wants. His athleticism is through the roof and he can guard multiple postions. Before the G League route took off Kuminga was expected to college. Duke was the HUGE favorite to land his services at the beginning of his recruitment. Many believed Kentucky had a shot as well. Auburn began to receive some buzz back in April. On May 22nd, he announced his final five options which included Auburn, Texas Tech, Duke, Kentucky, and the G League. After the announcement Texas Tech and the G League was receiving all the talk. Kuminga’s brother, Joel Ntambwe, is currently on Texas Tech’s roster. If Kuminga chose the college route, Texas Tech would have been the school. Ultimately, the chance to make money off his talents won out and he committed to the G League.
Jonathan Kuminga will not be alone in the G League. He will join fellow five stars Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix and four star Kai Sotto in the G League this upcoming year. The new G League team will be in Southern California. With all the talent they are bringing in, it will be very interesting to watch this upcoming season.
