Memphis lands Moussa! Penny Hardaway does it again with another big time recruit. Moussa Cisse, The 6’11 big man who’s reputation for monster blocks, and strong finishes will take college basketball by storm. The original 2021 prospect reclassified into the 2020 class early this past June. Moussa ranks in the top 10 in 24/7 2020 rankings.

Moussa moved from New York to attend a local high school in Memphis. At the time everyone thought it meant he was headed to The University of Memphis. That wasn’t the case , Will Wade the coach of LSU worked hard recruiting Moussa, and commitment seemed inevitable. Somehow, someway Penny Hardaway landed the Big man Memphis needed.

The Tigers were elite defensively last season. Memphis was fifth in the country in defensive efficiency last season. With Moussa’s knack for finding the opponents shots , he should fit right in to Memphis’s system. Boogie Ellis, Lester Quinones, Damien Baugh and DJ Jeffries look to take big leaps in their second year of college basketball. Third year player, and defensive juggernaut Alex Lomax brings back the most experience in the back court as well. The front court will have a couple experienced guys with Lance Thomas accompanied by Malcom Dandridge. The Tigers hope to get waivers for two transfers: Landers Nolley, a former All ACC freshmen, and Evansville Transfer DeAndre Williams.

The Tigers are on a NCAA tournament drought. The addition of Moussa Cisse is certainly going to put them in great position to break that. The team should be in just about every relevant preseason poll. The Tigers should also be the co-favorites with Houston to compete for The AAC title.
