Cage Warriors – The Trilogy

It was back on March 20th, 2020. When we last got to see a Cage Warriors event. It was after a crazy 24hr period where the entire event was moved from London to Manchester. Something that nobody thought was possible with the circumstances. However, it was made possible by Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan, how could one man possibly top this? Well, how about a Trilogy of events over a time frame of 3 days? Yes, that’s right 3 events in 3 days. Graham Boylan has pulled the rabbit out of the hat again not once but three times, leaving us MMA fans spoilt for choice with an abundance of talent to fill the void that has been left.

Below I take a look at potential fights that could be made. That I believe would offer Cage Warriors fans a series of spectacular events.

Oban Elliott vs Donovan Desmae

We kick off with Oban Elliott vs Donovan Desmae. This is a fight that the Welsh man Oban, has been very vocal about over the past few months. With several efforts made on his social media to make this fight, this isn’t a rarity for Oban as he has put the whole roster on call and has spoke of his desire for greatness. Nobody can question his talent with a pro record of 3-0. In addition, an amateur record of 7-0, Oban is on a 10 fight win streak that has yet gone to the judges. With such an exciting talent as Oban, surely Cage Warriors will be looking to utilize him during these cards.

Desmae, on the other hand, has been quite the opposite recently. A popular name amongst MMA fans. However, he hasn’t competed as much as he would like in recent times. With his last fight in September 2019, during that period 2 projected fights with Paddy Pimblett was cancelled. With a Cage Warriors record of 5-3, this fight makes so much sense, the young star in the making Oban matching against the experienced veteran would help both of these gentlemen. A win would elevate Oban towards the top of the division. Whereas a win for Desmae would derail a promising talent and put him back in the win column.

Darren Stewart vs James Webb

Stewart is a UFC veteran. With a record of 11-5, and 4-4 in the UFC respectively, Stewart is a respected and feared talent in the Middleweight division. He left the UFC after winning his last 2 fights before making his return to Cage Warriors back in March. It was there where he lost to potential title contender Fabinski. Stewart will for sure be looking to get back in the win column and make his claim for Cage Warriors gold. Webb on the other hand, got back to winning ways in March defeating Mick Staunton. After previously taking a loss and a draw against current champion Nathias Frederick. Results that shocked many at the time with a record of 7-2-1 Webb will be looking to use his talents to put a stop to the return of Stewart and book himself a title shit and a Trilogy fight against Frederick.

Mason Jones vs Paddy Pimblett

Finishing off my Trilogy of fights, for the Trilogy events I look at undoubtedly the biggest fight to currently make in Cage Warriors. Both of these gentlemen have been spoken of in conversations of moves to the UFC. Both have star attraction these men are Mason Jones, the undefeated cage Warriors Lightweight champion, and Paddy Pimblett. As I mentioned the champ is undefeated with a record of 9-0. With some of the crispest techniques to have been seen in a Cage Warriors cage, as seen with his finish of McColgan at CW113 in the last event held in March. He holds other notable wins against the above mentioned Donovan Desmae and Aleksi Mantykivi. the Welshman is certainly on the path to greatness and one would think a successful defense against Pimblett. It could result in a potential call from Dana White.

Pimblett, on the other hand, is quite possibly the most popular fighter on the roster labeled Paddy the Baddy the man from Liverpool. He has given a good reason for his found admiration with some impressive performances and slick submission skills. Pimblett who also fought on the CW113 coming away with an impressive victory over Decky Dalton after the frustration of 5 canceled fights. His last Cage Warriors fight prior to Dalton was back in September 2018 where he had lost to Soren Bak. He is looking to regain his title and get back to the fighter who was once touted to be the next call up to the UFC. This fight has fireworks written all over it.

President of Cage Warriors Graham Boylan with UFC’s Dana White

There is a team at Cage Warriors with a fantastic work ethic and a huge passion for MMA. Because of them, we as fans are being blessed with this spectacle. However, there is one man in particular who has worked miracles in recent times and that is Graham Boylan. All of us at Overtime Heroics MMA would like to thank everyone at Cage Warriors.
