The Horror Show at Extreme Rules Preview and Predictions

Extreme Rules is called “The Horror Show” this year and for good reason. There are some high stake matchups and grueling stipulations. Let’s take a deeper look into it.

Eye for an Eye

Over a month ago, Seth Rollins pushed Rey Mysterio’s right eye into the corner of the steel steps.

The Monday Night Messiah even held a retirement ceremony for Mysterio, saying he was a “sacrifice” for the future of Monday Night Raw.

Mysterio’s son, Dominick, tried helping out his father by fighting for him while he was out. Dominick attacked Rollins from behind on RAW a month ago.

Two weeks later, Rollins tried pushing Dominick’s eye into the steel steps before being saved by Humberto Carrillo and Aleister Black.

Mysterio and Kevin Owens beat Rollins and Murphy and got to choose the stipulation for their match at the Horror Show.

The WWE legend picked an “Eye for an Eye” match, leaving everyone in the Performance Center shocked. This match does not end until someone extracts their opponent’s eye out giving us the first taste of the Horror Show.

I have Seth Rollins coming out of this one victorious, however, I don’t believe the feud with Mysterio is over. I believe at Summerslam, Aleister Black will challenge Rollins to try and get revenge for Mysterio. The master of the 619 will then return and face Rollins again after Summerslam.

Apollo Crews vs. MVP

Remember when we thought MVP’s in-ring career was over? Think again. MVP pinned United States Champion, Apollo Crews two weeks ago on RAW in a non-title match.

This gave MVP a guaranteed title match and it will be taking place at Extreme Rules.

I have Apollo Crews retaining his championship. However, Bobby Lashley could get involved and attack Crews after the match.

Since, we won’t be seeing a Brock Lesnar/Bobby Lashley matchup at Summerslam, I believe Crews’ next challenger will be the All Mighty One.

New Day vs. Nakamura & Cesaro

The Smackdown Tag Team Titles will be on the line as the New Day defend against Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.

Nakamura and Cesaro pinned the champs a month ago and claimed they weren’t getting the respect they deserved.

The two teams battled for the titles last week, but the match ended in a disqualification.

At the end, Cesaro and Nakamura drove Kofi Kingston onto Big E and threw a table.

Cesaro defeated Big E on Smackdown this past Friday and was able to choose the stipulation for their match. They picked a tables match.

Cesaro has been great in this feud, elevating Nakamura as he does with every tag team partner he’s with. However, I think the New Day will retain the titles and get their revenge.

Bayley vs. Nikki Cross

Three weeks ago on Smackdown, Nikki Cross won a fatal four way match to earn an opportunity against Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Bayley has been on a roll. She is the longest reigning Smackdown Women’s Champion in history and now has a tag team title as well.

Unfortunately for Cross, the past two weeks she got pinned by Bayley on Smackdown. Bayley did use the ropes to cheat, however the referee did not see it.

These two defeats have upset Cross as this past Friday, she was doubting whether she could beat Bayley at Extreme Rules.

This will be a great match, but I think Bayley wins and keeps her record-long reign alive.

Sasha Banks vs. Asuka

Sasha Banks wants to be like her best friend Bayley and be a double champion in WWE. A couple weeks ago on RAW, Banks expressed that desire. We thought Banks might challenge Bayley for her title. Instead, she challenged Asuka for the RAW Women’s Championship.

This match is one of those that I am very excited for. It might be the best of the night.

You have two established superstars going at it, both at the top of their game. Sasha Banks has been gaining pinfalls and winning matches consistently. Asuka is champion and is proving why she is one of the best female wrestlers in the industry.

I will note though that Banks did pin Asuka two weeks ago on RAW.

I don’t think that will happen again, I believe Asuka wins and retains her title. After the match, we could see an attack from Shayna Baszler as I believe she will be Asuka’s next challenger at Summerslam.

WWE Championship Match

Drew McIntyre will defend his WWE Championship against his former ally, Dolph Ziggler at the Horror Show.

When McIntyre recovered from injury, Ziggler took McIntyre under his wing when he returned to WWE.

Ziggler and McIntyre were tag champs together and wanted to set the locker room straight before they split up.

Ziggler thinks McIntyre should thank him for bringing him back and also believes he is the reason that McIntyre is WWE Champion.

The Champ disagrees, saying that Ziggler used him as his muscle and that he earned the title by himself.

Last week on RAW, Ziggler brought back Heath Slater, who was one of those superstars released by WWE due to COVID-19. Slater is one of McIntyre’s best friends and claimed he wasn’t there for him when he was released. This was an attempt to get inside the head of the champion.

This matchup became a lot more personal than it already was.

McIntyre is letting Ziggler pick the stipulation of this match and we still don’t know what that is. We will find that out tonight.

In the end, McIntyre will win, no matter what the stipulation is, and retain the title.

Braun Strowman Comes Home

Universal Champion, Braun Strowman is heading back home. Him and Bray Wyatt will battle in a Wyatt Swamp Fight.

In his early days in WWE, Strowman was part of the Wyatt family and the swamp was known as their hollow ground.

Wyatt has brought back his “Eater of Worlds” character for this match.

Strowman has said, in order to beat Wyatt, he must become him. We have seen an evil side of Braun Strowman since then.

On Smackdown this Friday, Strowman was furious after watching Wyatt’s promo in the swamp. He said, “I have to go home and face my fears that is Bray Wyatt because the last thing I want is for him to turn into the Fiend because the Fiend is everything evil that I have ever done in my life.” “I have to go home and end him before he ends me,” Strowman said.

This match could really go either way. Strowman could win and bring out the Fiend and one final challenge at Summerslam. Wyatt could also win since it is a non-title match and even the score at 1-1 (Wyatt lost to Strowman at MITB). This also brings out the Fiend and forces a rubber match at Summerslam. I believe the match at Summerslam happens either way.

As for tonight at The Horror Show, I think Bray Wyatt defends his swamp and beats Strowman.
