In the NFL, the offense is one of the exciting parts of watching football. So, as we approach the 2020 season, who are the top offenses in the league? Yardbarker ranks all 32 offenses in the NFL and I will too. But, I will instead do it in chunks. I started with my top four offenses and will go from there.
#1 – NFL Offense: Kansas City Chiefs
During the Chiefs Super Bowl run in 2019, Kansas City ranked fifth in points per game with Patrick Mahomes as the starting quarterback. In 2020, they nearly bring back their entire offense. They also added a versatile running back in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Having the best offense comes easy when you have arguably the best player in the league at three different offensive positions.
Many believe the Chiefs have a strong argument for the best quarterback in Mahomes, best wide receiver in Tyreek Hill, and best tight end with Travis Kelce. The Chiefs ranked fifth in points per game during 2019, but that was with Mahomes nursing an ankle injury at the start of the year and missing two games with a knee injury.
#2 – NFL Offense: Baltimore Ravens
Last season, the Baltimore Ravens led the league with 33 points per game. They had an elite running game that no one else had. Quarterback Lamar Jackson is a unique player in football. During the 2019 season, he took the Ravens to the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs where they lost to the Tennessee Titans. In only his second season, he has a total of 2,263 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.
As a runner, he has 192 rushing attempts for 1,624 yards and 22 touchdowns. Losing guard Marshal Yanda is a huge hit to the team and the team’s remarkable health from the previous season should also be noted, is it going to repeat?
#3 – NFL Offense: New Orleans Saints
On the Saints, quarterback Drew Brees is proving himself to be the most accurate passer in league history. He is back not only for another year but also another potential Super Bowl title. Michael Thomas and Jared Cook are his two top pass catchers. Also, New Orleans added Emmanuel Sanders, who makes the offensive even better. Running back Alvin Kamara also enters his fourth season.
#4 – NFL Offense: Dallas Cowboys
Since the Cowboys traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper, quarterback Dak Prescott has been a different quarterback. Dallas was able to lock up the talented wide out. After drafting Oklahoma standout CeeDee Lamb to complement Cooper and Michael Gallup, the offense could be even more potent.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott had 1,777 yards from scrimmage in a “down year.” The team could easily improve on last year’s 27 points per game.
