Predicting the 2020 American League Standings

Just a gut feeling, but here’s how I see the American League teams finishing this season. Predictions are always fun to take a stab at, and this is how I see the AL Sstandings aooearung when the last out of the season has been made.

The regular season for Major League Baseball officially begins on Thursday, July 23, 2020. The first matchup will be the New York Yankees at Washington Nationals, in Washington D.C. The nightcap will be out in Los Angeles with the Giants facing the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Fans are very excited about the season with new faces on the teams. There will only be sixty games in the regular season this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fifteen teams have a chance at winning the American League Pennant this fall.

It will be a dogfight for all teams throughout the whole season because some teams are evenly matched. Pitching and health will be crucial parts to the teams who get into playoffs. Rebuilding teams have a chance, because it’s a shortened season with 60 games.

New York Yankees 45-15

Boston Red Sox 32-28

Baltimore Orioles 15-45

Chicago White Sox 40-20

Cleveland Indians 39-21

Kansas City Royals 24-36

Detroit Tigers 18-42

American League West

Why the Yankees will win the AL Pennant

The New York Yankees will win the Pennant in American League this fall. The Yankees have finally found their ace in Gerrit Cole, and they now have a number-one starter in their rotation that can battle against other aces in the American League. The bullpen is still deep, despite departure of Dellin Betances. The offense is still strong with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres.

Runner-up to the Yankees may be the Houston Astros. I have them as the AL West Champions. The Astros had most of their 2019 roster to the team. They have playoff experience and championship mentality from the 2017 and 2019 World Series teams.

I believe the American League is the toughest league this year in Major League Baseball because they have good pitching, along with powerful hitters and teams. Depth is the key in this shortened season.
