The New York Yankees look to add two more wins to their record as they visit the Baltimore Orioles in a two-game set. Here are the players that are key to winning both games down in Baltimore on Wednesday and Thursday.
Gleyber Torres is the hitter the Yankees need in the series against the Baltimore Orioles, as his 13 home-runs against the Orioles last season were the most by a player against a divisional opponent in history. Look for him to be the best hitter in this series! So far this season, his stats are a .300 batting average, one home-run and two RBIs.
Gerrit Cole, the ace of the New York Yankees, pitched really well in his first game, going a complete game with one earned run and five strikeouts. His 97-99 mile four-seam fastball is very strong, as he got the most swings and misses in MLB on that pitch last season. Look for him to get that fastball going once again. He will pitch the first game against the Orioles as he looks to go 2-0 on the season.
Last season, J.A. Happ did not have a great year, as he went 12-8 with a 4.91 ERA on 161.1 Innings pitched. He will look to get things going for his first outing on Thursday. He throws a 92 mph fastball, 90 mph Sinker, 86 mph changeup, and an 85 mphSlider. Although he does not have the highest velocity, 13 years of MLB experience is under his belt. Look for him to pitch well, as last year on August 14th against the Orioles, he went five innings, gave up only two runs, and struck out six batters.
The New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday July 29th at 7:35 P.M. and on Thursday July 30th also at 7:35 P.M.
