This is the second part of a series called Predicting the Giants Record make sure to go check out weeks 1-4 here!
Game 5: Giants vs. Cowboys
October 11th, 2020
Coming off of a difficult win against the Los Angeles Rams, the Giants now face the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. Away games will not be a huge factor in the 2020 season as a result of covid-19, however this game vs. a divisional rival will still be very tough for the Giants. As overrated as Dak Prescott is, the Cowboys have a very strong run game and receiving corps that the Giants defense won’t be able to keep up with in the first matchup of the season. The Giants offense will be able to score points on the Cowboys defense, however that won’t be enough for a Giants win.
Current Record: 3-2
Game 6: Giants vs. Washington
October 18th, 2020
Nothing like a game vs. Washington to lift the spirits of Giants team members and fans alike. Regarded as one of if not the worst team in the league, a win against this team in shambles should not be too difficult. However, with the Giants, you never know what you’re going to get. The biggest threat to the Giants is young receiver Terry McLaurin who had an impressive rookie season last year. The season is around 2 months away from starting up so it’s hard to tell how McLaurin will perform. Washington has a weak offense and defense, however Ron Rivera is a great head coach, so you never know what he may be able to do with this Washington team.
Current Record: 4-2
Game 7: Eagles vs. Giants
October 15th, 2020
The first matchup against the Eagles will no doubt be a difficult one. The Giants and Jets have recently announced that no fans will be allowed in attendance for the 2020 NFL season, so it’s hard to see home field advantage really playing a factor. The Giants have the potential to defeat the Eagles this season, however it doesn’t seem very likely. Never count out this young Giants roster, because if rookies like Andrew Thomas, Darnay Holmes, and Xavier McKinney step up, there’s a real chance the Giants can defeat the Eagles. However, that can’t really be judged right now so the Eagles narrowly escape the Giants in their first matchup.
Current Record: 4-3
Game 8:Giants vs. Buccaneers
November 2nd, 2020
There is not much that needs to be said about this matchup. Going into this season the Buccaneers seem to be one of the best teams in the NFL and it will be extremely difficult to pull off an upset against this team. Their strong receiving corps as well as their solid defense, not to mention the addition of Tom Brady to the roster is a scary sight for any team they face. But, if there is any team that knows how to upset Tom Brady… it’s the New York Giants.
