Nets Defeat Wizards 118-110

After a disappointing loss to the Orlando Magic on Friday, the Nets rebounded to defeat the Washington Wizards 118-110. Caris Levert led the Nets to this victory by scoring 34 points on eleven for twenty-five shooting. Levert was helped by Joe Harris, who scored 27 points on ten for thirteen shooting including six of seven from three. Jarrett Allen added 22 points on six of ten shooting with fifteen rebounds.

Jarrett Allen

Despite the Nets only shooting 42.2% from the field, they seemed to flow on offense by using ball movement and penetration to attack the Wizards defense. In terms of defense, Jarrett Allen allowed Thomas Bryant to score 30 points on 12 for 20 shooting and grab thirteen rebounds, which should be a little concerning for the Nets team defense. However, Jacque Vaughn had some positive words for Allen after the game. Vaughn said, “his guy made shots at the beginning of the game but that was a part of our game plan. He stuck with the game plan and he protected the rim for us all night. He has really embraced the role of being one of the more experienced players on our team.”

Joe Harris’s Development

Joe Harris has proven that he deserves a contract extension and a role on the Nets 2020-21 championship campaign. When Jacque Vaughn was asked about Joe Harris as of late, he responded by mentioning, “he is more than just a catch and shoot guy (…) his ability to put the ball on the floor and be creative enough to make passes and finish at the rim so a lot of work has gone into him maturing his game.” Harris displayed his elite finishing abilities by performing a couple of reverse layups in the opening half. Hopefully, the Nets will be able to offer him a contract for around fourteen million dollars per year. For my opinion on whether or not the Nets should resign Joe Harris, check out this article

Next Game for the Nets

Caris Levert, Jarrett Allen, and Joe Harris combined for 83 of the 118 points scored by the Nets. It seems like this NBA restart is going to have many positive effects on their development. This is because all three players are very close to reaching their full potential. The Nets will have a harder challenge on Tuesday when they face the Bucks at 1:30 PM EST on NBATV.
