Going into the 2020 season, the position outlook of the quarterback room for the Arizona Cardinals will not look much different than it was in the 2019 season. In addition, rising star Kyler Murray now has a year of professional football under his belt. With an impressive rookie season from Murray, the question fans are asking is, what’s next for this team? The Arizona Cardinals’ success will widely depend on how this quarterback room performs this season.
- Kyler Murray – Second year quarterback Kyler Murray looks to improve from Arizona’s 5-10-1 record in 2019. In response to a lackluster season, Arizona added wide receiver Deandre Hopkins. With more experience under Murray’s belt, he could lead this team to a winning record; and possibly a playoff berth.
- Brett Hundley – Career back-up Brett Hundley returned this offseason on a 1-year, $1,047,500 contract. Hundley looked solid at Seattle in Week 16 after he took over for an injured Murray and secured the victory.
- Drew Anderson – Anderson looks to win a job either on the practice squad or as the third string quarterback. With no preseason in sight, the Murray state product will find it extremely tough to get snaps in Arizona. This may mean he will be on the practice squad again.
- Chris Streveler – Fresh from the Canadian football League, Chris Streveler just led his team to a 2019 Grey Cup victory. He is the definition of a “Swiss-Army Knife Quarterback” similar to what fans have seen from New Orleans in Taysom Hill.
The position outlook on the Arizona Cardinals for quarterback looks promising because it includes a rising star, a solid backup, and a quarterback with a Taysom Hill-type skillset. If this offense clicks and stays healthy, the sky is the limit.
