Justin Thomas wins The WGC in Memphis

Justin Thomas came into the final round of The WGC Fedex St Jude classic four shots back on Sunday. He quickly answered The question on the front nine whether he’d compete for the trophy or not? Thomas birdied two of the first three holes and added two more by the end of the turn, shooting a 31. His laser like focused was well on display throughout The round. The only real hiccup of the day came on the tough par four, twelve; where he bogeyed. He went on to have two additional birdies on the back shooting a 34 , and a 65 for the round. he finished at -13 for the tournament.

Thomas seems poised for a strong year.

This is Justin Thomas’s third win of the year, becoming the first player to do so this season. He is now currently first in Fedex cup points, and now ranked The number one player in The world. With The PGA championship coming up next week, Thomas looks to take his hot playing into San Francisco for The tours first major of the year. Thomas has a great chance to claim his second major of his career as he will be a favorite to hoist the trophy Sunday.

Bad Break for Brooks

The reigning champ no more, Koepka was on a hot roll at the WGC FedEx Classic, but stumbled at The end. After it looked like Koepka was in The driver seat, he came to The easiest hole on The course The Par 5, 16th. What should be an easy birdie for the field ended up becoming a bogey for Brooks. He quickly redeemed himself by making a 39 foot birdie on the next hole, then headed off to eighteen. Koepka needed at least a birdie to tie while thinking Thomas would par. Brooks teed off , taking an aggressive line, and put it into the water. He ends up doubling the hole , and finishing in a tie for second. Brooks has a lot of positives to look at while headed to defend his back-to-back PGA Championship next week. Koepka moves up 63 spots to 92nd. He is now comfortably in The Fedex cup playoffs.

Phil Mickelson, Daniel Berger, and Tom Lewis had the other spots for the T-2. Phil jumps 60 spots to number 43 in Fedex cup points, while Tom Lewis jumps 79 spots to 112. Lewis now finds himself in The Fedex cup playoff picture.

What’s Next?

The PGA Championship starts next week in San Francisco at Harding Park. The first major of the year since golf returned from the shutdown.The course is about 7200 yards, and is really made for a player who can shape their shots real well. The field will be loaded, and yes The Big Cat will be there and ready to compete. First round starts Thursday morning from The Golden State.
