Kings Score Season High … Take Down Pelicans

Sacramento came out HOT and stayed HOT – the Kings score season high 140 points in HUGE victory over the New Orleans Pelicans!

GAME HIGHLIGHTS AND BREAKDOWN

SPIKEBALLTOM’S ‘THE POSITIVES AND NEEDS IMPROVEMENT’ SECTION

Kings Bounce Back – Stay Afloat In Playoff Hunt

Including 49 points in the 1st quarter – a Sacramento era RECORD!

Sac Somehow Still Sniffing Playoffs

At the time the game ended the Kings sit 2.5 games back of the 8th seed Memphis Grizzlies.

More importantly, Sacramento is only 1.5 games behind 9th seed Portland Trailblazers.

GAME STATS

‘THE POSITIVE

Bogi Scores Career High 35

Bogdan Bogdanovich scored a career high 35 points, 6-9 from 3pt range, including 19 in the first quarter! In addition, Bogi had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and zero turnovers!

Defensive Rebounds and Turnovers

Sacramento often loses games when they let the other team get too many second chance scoring opportunities via offensive rebounds. As well as, when they commit too many turnovers!

Sacramento looked GREAT in both of these departments Thursday versus the Pelicans.

The Kings only committed 8 turnovers, while only allowing the Pelicans five offensive rebounds!!!

Now that’s cleaning the glass!

Kings Show Depth

De’Aaron Fox quietly had himself an impressive 30 point, 10 rebound double-double. Fox was 12-21 from the field, 1-4 from 3pt range.

Harrison Barnes played a solid game. Barnes scored 22 points on 9-18 FG, 6 rebounds, zero turnovers.

Cory Joseph played a large role in the Kings holding the lead in the second half.

CoJo showed veteran prowess by drawing timely charges, being in the right place at the right time and not doing too much!

Joseph scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assist and zero turnovers!

‘NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Consistency

The Kings as a team, and individual players, have a problem with CONSISTENCY!

One game we play great defense, the next game it looks like we don’t enjoy basketball.

One game our scorers can’t find the bucket – often also committing turnovers and hurting the team in others ways – and the next they are lights out shooting, ball handling and decision making.

What gives? We need to show more CONSISTENCY!

VIDEO – GAME HIGHLIGHTS

I originally predicted this to be a LOSS for the Kings. That was incorrect, fortunately!

UPCOMING KINGS SCHEDULE

The Kings play a back to back against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday 8/7 at 2pm PST.

I predict a WIN! My Predictions – PART 3

Sacramento still has a small chance to make the 9th seed in the western conference. They sit only 1.5 games back of 9th seed Portland for the play-in spot with the 8th seed – currently the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Kings NEED a win and help from other teams to stay in the playoff hunt!

GO KINGS!
