In early June then assistant coach Mike Miller left The University of Memphis coaching staff to become the head coach of Houston High School. Many believed his departure was a terrible loss and that Memphis wouldn’t be able to recruit the caliber of players of the past years. Even though Miller was a great recruiter, ONE Cent, Penny Hardaway, runs this program. Coach Hardaway, and Coach Toppert have landed their second big-time recruit within the calendar month with the addition of 2021 guard Josh Minott.
The Memphis Grind: the Memphis Tigers add 2021 Guard Josh Minott
Hard Work Pays Off!

Memphis Welcomes Josh Minott
Josh Minott, a 6’8 versatile wing or BIG GUARD, as he sees himself as, is the perfect fit for this Memphis program. Minott is a smooth and skilled player who can score from anywhere on the court. His length allows him to get to the rim with ease, and it’s almost impossible to stop. His smooth stroke from the mid-range will keep defenses honest. Needless to say, he’s going to be a problem for opposing teams Memphis plays. That is to say, Minott should be able to make an immediate impact with his size and skill.

NBA Comparison
Zach Taylor, a Memphis Tiger fan and knowledgeable Basketball guru, compares Minott to a right-handed Tayshaun Prince. With his size and skill set this is the perfect comparison. For example, Minott like Prince can go get a bucket by driving to the rim or pulling up for a jumper. On the other hand, his length makes him a problem on the defensive end forcing opponents into taking bad shots. If Minott is anything like Tayshaun, this get for The University Of Memphis will be huge.
In short, the Memphis Tigers are back and red hot on the recruiting trail. Coach Hardaway continues to show why he is the man for the job. Go Tigers Go!
