The UFC is back in the Apex Center for UFC Vegas 6! We were here last week when we saw Derek Brunson take on hot prospect Edmen Shahbazyan for UFC Vegas 5. This was an exciting card from beginning to end with amazing finishes both at the beginning and at the end of the main card. Let’s get into the fights!

Beneil Dariush finishes Scott Holtzman with flashy KO
Beneil Dariush is has been known for his finishes. However, that was for submission finishes but now he’s becoming one of the hottest fighters of his division with 2 consecutive exciting KO finishes. The finish came after eye pokes from both fighters, However Dariush did not let them phase him. Dariush launched a combination that resulted in a takedown scramble from Holtzman. As Holtzman was trying to regain his posture he was caught unexpectedly with a spinning back fist from Dariush. This finish extends Dariush’s win streak to 5 and ends Holtzman’s streak of 2. Yana Kunitskaya spoils debut of Julija Stoliarenko with Decision Win
Julija Stoliarenko was planning to have a successful debut in the UFC. However, Yana Kunitskaya had other plans. For nearly the entirety of the bout, Kunitskaya used her grappling and clinch skills against the cage to easily secure a Unanimous decision win with the judges scoring the bout 30-26, 30-27 x 2. Darren Stewart submits Maki Pitolo in the First
Darren Stewart was able to put himself back in the win column after a Submission win against Maki Pitolo. The submission came in a blink of an eye. After Stewart started to gain the upper hand on the feet Pitolo went for a takedown in the clinch in order to slow down Stewart. However, Stewart made a quick transition to a nasty guillotine choke to submit Pitolo within the first round. What’s next for the Englishman?

Chris Weidman defeats Omari Akhmedo to End 3 Fight Skid
Chris Weidman proved to the MMA world that he isn’t ready to hang up the gloves just yet. In the 1st round, The All-Ameican Weidman looked for the takedown however, Akhemdov wanted to keep the fight on the feet. However, in the 2nd, both fighters traded with one another in hopes to gain dominance on the ground. The third round was all Weidman. After attempting a submission, Weidman mounted Akhmedov and was able to control the remainder of the bout in a dominant position. The judges scored the bout 29-28, 29-27 x 2 in favor of Weidman. This win snaps the losing streak of 3 that hovered over Weidman and puts a stop to Akhemdov’s 3 win streak. What’s next for the middleweights??

Derrick Lewis finished Aleksei Olienik
Although this fight started rough for Lewis with Oleinik nearly submitting Lewis twice within the 2nd. Lewis came out in the 2nd round like a bull on fire! Lewis came out flying at the start of the second round with shades of Jorge Masvidal however, Lewis didn’t stop there. He followed up with a devastating right hand which dropped his Oleinik which then led to heavy ground-and-pound which finished the fight giving Lewis the TKO win. This marks Lewis’ 3rd straight win and ends Oleinik’s win streak of 2. What’s next for the big men?
