From last place to third place, the Dbacks may finally be getting the momentum needed to fight for a playoff spot this season. Arizona, who had a 3-8 streak in the first 11 games of the season, is now going on six wins in a row. What could have flipped the switch for this team? What led this team to the hunger of possibly making another post-season appearance since 2017?
Dbacks Not So Hot Start
The Diamondbacks had produced a total of 68 hits, with only 29 of those counting as runs prior to the second series against San Diego. It was almost like the team that longed to recreate a name for themselves vanished into thin air. Dbacks fans throughout the world became discouraged and even the team itself had began to lose hope.
Dbacks Equals Wild Card Team
Although it seemed like there was no lash of drive left within Arizona the team surprised people throughout the states. Arizona can be considered a wild card team. The reason is that people never know what can occur. In 2016 the team had a losing record, bouncing back to make it into the playoffs in 2017. In 2018 the team had ever chance to make it but slowly lost the opportunity in making a second appearance the Dbacks fell apart before the race even began.
Arizona Feeling Defeated
2019 the Dbacks ended the season with a “winning record” but fell short for a postseason spot against the Brewers or Nationals. At the beginning of the 2020 season, the team seemed defeated with no hopes of landing in one of 16 spots for the postseason but look at this team now. A player to look out for would definitely be Kole Calhoun.
Calhoun And Peralta On Fire
Calhoun has been a major source in the offense that has been provided within the Dbacks. Kole has an AVG of .238, OBP .326 with an OPS .874. Another player that has provided a good percentage of runs for the team would be David Peralta. David has an AVG of .322, OBP 3.81, and OPS .841 would become essential when Peralta walked it off against the Athletics on Monday, August 17, 2020.
The Losing Streak Over
The team is on a winning streak went from being last to being in third place int he NL West. Even the dugout has had a change in perspective when it comes to games. Lovullo and the Diamondbacks have managed to do a 360. It may be a tad bit too soon, but being 24 games into the season everything can still change. It may not be a long road ahead for this team after all.
