Cleveland Browns: Injuries Continue to Mount in Camp

Another day, another injury in Cleveland. The Cleveland Browns have already dealt with a knee issue for starting center J.C. Tretter. Then Nick Chubb was put in concussion protocol on a hit from Mack Wilson. The next day Wilson severely hyperextended his knee and is getting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews before moving forward.

Yesterday came George Obinna being placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury. All of these do not include Myles Garrett being out since the start of camp with a hamstring and groin injuries to both Larry Ogunjobi and Damion Ratley that have held them out also. With all of this happening in the first few days on the field, its no surprise another Cleveland Browns player is down.

Free Agent Addition CB Kevin Johnson Injured

Based on multiple reports this morning, Johnson has a lacerated liver. A time frame of when he will be back on the field has not been given. i

The Browns signed Johnson in free agency, adding depth to the secondary as the third/slot corner. A former first-round pick out of Wake Forest, Johnson has tallied 19 pass deflections and an interception during his career. Last season in Buffalo, Johnson was the 22nd rated cornerback in the league according to Pro Football Focus.

With Johnson down, the Browns will look to Terrance Mitchell as the third cornerback. They will also get a more extended look at undrafted free agent A.J. Green, the cornerback given a franchise record bonus to come to Cleveland. Let’s hope the injury bug is all used up, and the focus can now be on getting ready to play the Ravens week one.
