Wow! In an absolute shocker, Paolo Banchero has committed to Duke.

Just days ago, recruiting experts were speculating that Banchero could follow his good friend Kennedy Chandler in committing to Tennessee. In recent days, crystal ball picks had been placed in favor of Tennessee, with Kentucky and Washington also having crystal ball picks. But, Coach K has worked his magic yet again in landing the five star power forward.

Banchero’s commitment is MASSIVE for Duke as he’s rated as a top three player nationally. He will bolster the frontcourt as a freshman, but is a lock to be a one and done. Banchero has a nice inside-out game that should translate well to the college level. He can play at both power forward and center. He’s skilled with some shooting ability, and is dominant out of the high post.

Paolo Banchero joins five star small forward A.J Griffin in Duke’s 2021 recruiting class to form an excellent foundation for what is shaping up to be another incredible class for Coach K and the Blue Devils. Duke remains in good shape with several other five star recruits in the class of 2021. They are considered the frontrunner for five star forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., and five star shooting guard Trevor Keels. Duke also is in a good spot with five stars Caleb Houstan, and Charles Bediako.

Banchero’s commitment has major implications for Duke’s frontcourt in 2021. He will likely be joined by returning players Henry Coleman and Jaemyn Brakefield, and possibly Mark Williams and Patrick Baldwin Jr. That’s a loaded frontcourt!
