After being swept by the Indians last night, the Pirates were finally able to win a game as they took game one from the Brewers, 7-2. Both their hitting and pitching were fantastic tonight. With Chad Kuhl on the mound for the Bucs, who went five innings and gave up one-run.
The Night Of Reynolds
The Bucs broke the game open in the 4th, scoring three runs. Reynolds got himself another hit and RBI, as he singled and scored Josh Bell.
Milwaukee scored again the in the 8th thanks to a Christian Yelich homer to cut the lead in half.
With two on and no one out in the bottom of the 8th, Reynolds notched his fourth RBI of the game on a triple that scored Bell and Moran. Reynolds went 3-4 in the game with a homer and a single. Tucker dropped a single to center that scored Reynolds from third to add more the Bucs’ lead.
Early in the 9th, Bucs’ closer, Keone Kela left the game with an apparent injury. Upon replay, it looks like Kela was rubbing his right forearm. Tyler Bashlor came in to finish the job and did it perfectly.
The Pirates dominated the Brewers in game one, on both sides. Flawless defensively, great pitching and incredible hitting were what carried the Bucs. If they played like that for the majority of the year, they’d be well over .500.
Both Reynolds and Tucker were great, combining for six RBI and six hits. Josh Bell also had two hits, and two runs for the Bucs, as well as Moran. All of the Bucs’ big hitters showed up tonight, and this performance may provide a massive confidence boost.
The Bucs return for game two tomorrow and look to continue the winning.
