We at Overtime Heroics Hockey have made the decision to not release our coverage of the playoff games on August 26th, 2020.
Statement from Overtime Heroics Hockey
After careful consideration and discussion, we as a group have decided to stand with those protesting racial injustice in wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake.
After players from the Milwaukee Bucks decided to boycott their game against the Orlando Magic, players in the NBA, WNBA, and MLB have decided to postpone their games today in protest against the acts of racial injustice that continue to plague our world.
The message is clear. We need change. The NHL has decided not to follow in those leagues’ footsteps, playing Game 2 of the Islanders vs Flyers series, as well as Game 3 of the Lightning vs Bruins series and Avalanche vs Stars series.
It just doesn’t feel right to cover games that seem to be taking attention away from these movements, so we’re standing with numerous other members of the hockey world.
Why is this in article form? We just felt as if we should outline where we stand and why we’ve decided to do this.
Any and all ad revenue from this article, along with individual pledges, will be donated to causes supporting the fight for racial equality.
Black lives matter. They matter today, they matter tomorrow, they matter every day. But it’s time that everyone acts like it.
