Is the Texas Rangers Lance Lynn Set To Become a Los Angels Dodger?

With rumors that Los Angeles was interested in the Texas Rangers’ Lance Lynn, Lynn would’ve be a great addition to their staff with a 1.59 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. L.A. has its eye on a World Series and Lynn would have provided some serious pitching help.

Lynn has thrown 100 pitches in 32 consecutive starts dating back to last season. No other pitcher has thrown at least 100 pitches in more than seven straight starts.

Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, also said they were interested in players with some time left on their contracts.

Lynn, 33, has one year remaining on his contract and is owed an extremely affordable $8 million in 2021.

What’s Happening With The Dodgers Starting Rotation

Walker Buehler has blisters that manager Dave Roberts says are minor but Alex Wood has shoulder issues.

Ross Stripling has been involved in three no-decisions in his last three starts against the Texas Rangers, Seattle and Colorado. He has allowed 13 earned runs across 15.2 frames. With a 3-1 Record and a bloated 5.61 ERA to go with a WHIP of 1.455, the Dodgers were looking for more from Stripling. Stripling was acquired today by the Toronto Blue Jays for two players to be named later.

Julio Urias has struggled as a starter in the rotation so far despite being 2-0 with a 3.67 ERA. Look a little deeper and his 1.407 WHIP is below average. He was moved out in favor of Tony Gonsolin in yesterday’s game against the Rangers.

Gonsolin himself did not fare well against The Texas Rangers in Urias’ place as he pitched two solid innings but fell apart in the third. He allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base and surrendered a run on a wild pitch.

Gonsolin is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/14.2 IP) in three starts. Along with a 0.55 WHIP and 12 strikeouts he still does provide some much needed pitching for the Dodgers rotation.

Dustin May came in at the start of the season when David Price opted out, and Clayton Kershaw was hurt. He looks like a savior with his 2.83 ERA in seven starts and 1.172 WHIP.

Clayton Kershaw, as we know, was hurt to start the season and this was a cause of concern for the Dodgers. With his age and health challenges around back issues dating back four years, we see why the Dodgers may have wanted to acquire a pitcher such as Lynn.

Kershaw is 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 29 strikeouts and four walks in 24 innings. After a rough start, adding Lynn would’ve further bolstered the Dodgers’ rotation.

Mike Clevinger Lands With the Padres And Not L.A.

The San Diego Padres – and not the Dodgers – did acquire Mike Clevinger this morning in a monster 7-player deal with the Cleveland Indians.

Clevinger in five seasons with the Indians went 42-22 as a starter with a 3.20 ERA. Clevinger is making $4.1 million this season.
