Eagles Rookie Receiver Jalen Reagor out 3-4 Weeks with Shoulder Injury

More bad news out of Eagles camp as rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor injured his shoulder while trying to tackle safety Will Parks. Parks had just intercepted a pass from Jalen Hurts. Carson Wentz did not participate due to a reported minor soft-tissue injury.

After the play, Reagor left the field in obvious pain. Trainers looked him over, and after an MRI showed a tear, the staff was notified that the 2020 1st-round pick would miss about a month.

No surgery is necessary, thankfully, and Reagor is seeking a second opinion. But even though it was a scrimmage, offensive players shouldn’t be trying to make tackles in meaningless practice activities.

Reagor was targeted in the draft because of his speed, and his ability to get open using it. He can high-point the ball better than most of the others in the draft, which means his hands are strong.

The Eagles needed depth and talent at the position after losing their top two option early in 2019. After DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery went down to injury, the options left were Nelson Agholor and rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Neither was consistent enough. Since defenses were able to key on the next big target, tight end Zach Ertz, the team decided to promote Greg Ward, Jr from the practice squad and re-sign Jordan Matthews.

While Philadelphia was able to make a run late and clinch the NFC East, they got a lot of help from the rest of the division.

The Eagles open the season on September 13th at Washington. It’s possible the new star may not be ready for it. Luckily, Jackson and Jeffery are healthy. They also added other talents through the draft in John Hightower, a speedy guy out Boise State.

They traded for Marquise Goodwin in the offseason, but Goodwin opted out.

It’s possible he won’t miss the full month, but, because it’s early in the season, don’t look for the Eagles to rush Reagor back.
