Rockies Take Two in LA

After a very disappointing 5-23 lost against San Fransisco last Tuesday, the Rockies win two games in a LA and hand the Dodgers their first losing series. There were some very good things that we saw in LA but there were some things that also scare you if you are a Rockies fan.

Fuentes is Warming Up in LA

Josh Fuentes was 2-4 this series against the Dodgers and shows that he can be put in a tough situation and handle it well. He also had 4 RBIs, 1 BB, and 1 SO. Over his last seven games, he is hitting a .438, has an OPB of .474 and SLG of .750. Josh is looking really good and even had some flashy defensive plays. It is nice to see he feel more comfortable and being a guy that you can count on.

Pillar Found His New Home

Kevin Pillar just recently got traded to the Rockies. Some people think that we had enough outfielders and were upset with the trade. In his last seven games, he hit for a .500 BA and OBP, a 1.250 SLG with a home run. Now, after 5 games with the Rockies, Pillar is starting to fit in. He is hitting a .263 average with an OBP of .333. He also has one HR and 6 RBIs. Pillar has also made a name for himself on defense after he made a great catch in the Giants game. Pillar is looking like a player that could help add depth to their roster and give some players rest days.

Bullpen Problems

The Rockies bullpen is looking like they are going back to their old ways. One player that is having the worst slump is Carlos Estevez. During his games against LA, he has given up six runs in one inning pitched. He also gave up 4 home runs during that time. In the last seven games, Estevez has an insane ERA of 11.57, 11 hits, nine earned runs and a WHIP of 1.86. This was all in seven innings pitched. He is having a hard time and hopefully, they can get the Estevez that we had at the beginning of the year and finish the season strong.

What’s Next?

The Rockies will be heading down to San Diego to face the Padres for a three-game series. This is the test for the Rockies. They held their own against the Dodgers and looked pretty good. The red hot Padres are going to test them and if this team wants to make noise in the playoffs they need to win this series as well to show they are not done this season.
