The New York Giants hope to bounce back after Monday night’s tough loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thankfully, this week they play the Bears, lead by Mitch Trubisky. There were definitely some bright spots for the Giants in last week’s matchup. Some examples being Darius Slayton, and the success when running the hurry up offense. However, poor decision making from Daniel Jones, an awful performance from the offensive line, and a lackluster showing from star running back Saquon Barkley, are all things that must be improved before week two. Chicago was bailed out last week by a dropped game winning pass against the Lions. regardless, Chicago aims to stay undefeated while New York will fight to get its first win of the season.
There are no major injuries on either team. Just like last week, the most devastating injury would be the loss of rookie safety Xavier McKinney to a foot injury. Fans have been excited to see how the duo of McKinney and Jabrill Peppers would perform on the field together and now they’ll have to wait a lot longer. Golden Tate was day to day with a hamstring injury last week and ultimately sat out in the loss. Tate is still listed as questionable ahead of the week 2 matchup. The Bears didn’t suffer any added injuries, all players listed as questionable are expected to play on Sunday.
The Giants offensive line needs to step its game up if they want to have any shot of winning this game; especially considering they are going up against Khalil Mack, one of the best EDGE rushers in the game. The Giants secondary should be able to rack up one or two interceptions against Mitch Trubisky. He should not be overlooked, however, as he can definitely make big plays. The fourth quarter of their week one game vs. the Lions is a perfect example of that.
