Former Kentucky and Oklahoma wide receiver Jeff Badet was signed to the Washington Football Team’s practice squad on Thursday. Badet spent most of his collegiate career at UK but transferred to OU for his senior year.
Badet racked up over 1300 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns in his three years as a Wildcat. When he transferred to OU, he was able to play with Baker Mayfield, getting 26 catches for 400 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The speedster clocked a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at Oklahoma’s Pro Day in 2018 but went undrafted. The Vikings signed him in camp and kept him on their practice squad, despite a successful preseason for the purple and gold.
Released in 2019 after a groin injury, Badet went into the 2020 XFL draft. Selected 4th overall by the Dallas Renegades, he finished the COVID-19-shortened season with 16 catches and 108 yards.
After two tryouts with the Bears and Panthers, Washington decided to give him a shot. With their situation at the position, he may have a real shot at making the active 53-man roster.
