Last week it was Marlon Mack going down for the Indianapolis Colts with a right Achilles injury. This week it was Parris Campbell.
Campbell was taken off the field after a Colts’ play from scrimmage against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday. He took a blow to his left knee. Safety Malik Hooker also suffered an injury to his Achilles that is a torn tendon. He is gone for the season.
Campbell Out Indefinitely
Like Mack, Campbell was going to be a big part of the offense and had 71 yards receiving in Week One’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That was the team-high.
A 2019 second-round pick, Campbell had four injuries last season and three surgeries. He is out indefinitely.
Jonathan Taylor did have a great game for the Colts after taking over for Mack last week with 101 yards, one TD, and 26 rushes. The Colts ran 40 times for 151 yards.
Philip Rivers threw another pick but was 19 of 25 for 214 yards and one touchdown. He has 124 career wins.
Colts Defense Looks Sharp in Win Against Minnesota
Coupled with Hooker’s torn Achilles, a stomach bug hit the Colts Rock Ya-Sin before Sunday’s game against Minnesota. He was forced to remove himself from the game right before kickoff.
Veteran defensive back T.J Carrie stepped up and grabbed two interceptions. Cornerback Kenny Moore also had an interception.
Turnovers played a huge role in Sunday’s win against the Vikings surrendering three to the Colts one.
Rookie safety Julian Blackmon also tipped a pass to Khari Willis for an interception. The Colts selected Blackmon in the third round (85th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has said that Malik Hooker had been helping him adjust to life in the NFL and how to prepare for games. Blackmon will likely be called upon to shoulder some of the load without Hooker.
DT DeForest Buckner sacked Vikings QB Kirk Cousins. Tyquan Lewis and Justin Houston also had sacks.
The Vikings Cousins turned in a horrible performance with 11 passes completed on 26 attempts for 113 yards and no touchdowns. He threw three interceptions too. Minnesota is 0-2 to start the season.
The Colts are in action next Sunday at home against the 0-2 New York Jets.
