Petry, who played in 71 games in the regular season recording 40 points for the Canadiens. Petry was a key piece on Defense for the Canadiens, playing alongside Brett Kulak most of the year. On a pair that was very effective for the Canadiens in the regular season, and the playoffs.

Jeff Petry’s Contract Details

Petry’s deal comes with an AAV of 6.25M per year. It’s a team-friendly deal, and Petry is one of the most important players that Montreal has. Petry’s deal also comes with a 15 team no-trade clause,

Jeff Petry was a beast for the Canadiens in the playoffs, making huge plays when the team needed them the most. Multiple game-winning goals. And some would say he was the Canadiens best player in the bubble.

When Petry was Asked why he came to terms with the Canadiens. He claimed “The Performance of Nick Suzuki And Jesperi Kotkaneimi was a big Factor in his decision to resign”

The Young guys’ impact on the team would surely influence players from anywhere. And players who have been in Montreal know the atmosphere of the Bell Center. Along with being apart of the Canadiens playoff run this year, gives every player a reason to want to stay In Montreal.

Petry’s value is high which is why this deal surprised me. He’s a player that could have got a lot more money elsewhere, but the passion to stay in Montreal showed here. Petry is a big part of the Canadiens’ core. And as younger players start coming into the NHL. They will be able to learn from Petry in Montreal.
