Falcons vs. Bears Preview: Falcons Continue Search For First Win Against Undefeated Bears

The Chicago Bears are 2-0 to start the season, while the Falcons are winless. In my opinion the Bears are not as good as their record says. In week one the Bears played the Detroit Lions. The Lions were up 23-6 late in the second quarter of that game, and it looked like the Bears were out of it. Granted, Chicago would come back and win the game 27-23, but they shouldn’t have been in that position with a team like Detroit. Week two wasn’t the strongest of opponents either, as the Bears played the injury riddled Giants. The Bears would only end up winning by four. With the numbers the Falcons have been putting up, I think they will have a chance at their first win.

Falcons Offense

The Falcons offense has been stellar, scoring a total of 64 points so far this season. The offense will do what they do, but what can we expect without Julio Jones.

Calvin Ridley will surely have a big game. In the first two games, Ridley has been nothing short of amazing. Against the Seahawks, Ridley would finish with over 100 yards and two touchdowns. Week two would be much of the same, as Ridley would put up close to the same numbers against Dallas.

Russell Gage will be another player to watch. We have seen him pick up right where he left off last year, with a total of 160 yards and two touchdowns. With Julio out, Gage will get even more looks.

Falcons Defense

This week, the Falcons are playing a quarterback who has struggled as a passer for the last few years, while the Falcons have struggled with containing the passing game on defense. This should be a great matchup to watch. Defensive back Kendall Sheffield will still be out for this one, as well as safety Ricardo Allen. Allen’s replacement will be out as well. Even with a pile of injuries, I still think this defensive line will be huge in this game.

Last game, the pass rushing attack of Takk McKinley, Grady Jarrett, and Dante Fowler Jr. was very good. They put pressure on Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, and forced three turnovers in the first quarter. This defensive line can get to the quarterback, and they can do it fast. Mitchell Trubisky is one of the more mobile quarterbacks in the league. Therefore, the defensive line may be doing a lot of running this Sunday.

The Falcons will have to step up their pass defense. Trubisky has struggled with his throwing before, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will not be able to throw it. Chicago has some good weapons such as Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller. The defense will definitely need to watch Robinson everywhere he goes.

Prediction

This one is a tough game to predict. The Bears haven’t played that great, but they have not lost yet. I’ll be watching both defenses closely in this game. The Bears had the best defense in the league just two years ago, and the Falcons have had one of the worst. While Atlanta’s offense is on fire right now, Chicago’s is not.

I’m going to predict that the Falcons get their first win this week, with a score of 27-17. I believe this Falcons team will have a great defensive game compared to the last two weeks. The Bears will struggle with the Falcons high powered offense.
