Breaking: 76ers Hire Doc Rivers

The 76ers hired Doc Rivers, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Doc Rivers has agreed on a deal to become the new coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers were in search of a new coach after they fired Brett Brown following their first round exit.

Doc Rivers:

Doc Rivers had been let go by the Los Angeles Clippers after seven seasons with the team where he failed to get past the second round of the playoffs. However, Rivers has extended success as a head coach including winning a championship with Boston in 2008.

While Rivers is a great hiring with a lot of experience, the 76ers roster still needs a lot of work. No head coach can realistically figure out how to play Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Al Horford at the same time. However, hiring Rivers is a step in the right direction.
