The purple and gold have ended a decade-long wait for a 17th NBA world title as they defeated the Miami Heat 106-93. The Lakers seal the series 4-2.

It is the moment that all Lakers have been waiting for, a 17th championship is sealed and delivered, by no other than LeBron James. The 35-year-old has now won his fourth title with three different franchises, adding to his collection of four finals MVPs. The first player to ever achieve this accolade.
LeBron James posted his 11th finals triple-double with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. In addition, defensive player of the year candidate, Anthony Davis chipped in with 19 points.
Another stellar display by Rajon Rondo, who is now in his own lane. Not only has he had his most impressive game of the postseason, but he’s now the only player to have won titles with both the Lakers and Celtics franchise. Rondo captured his first ring in 2008 with the Boston Celtics, and now 12 years later, he’s a champion once again with arguably the most storied franchise in professional basketball.

The "King" LeBron James gave an emotional post-match speech on his emotions on delivering a title for the Lakers "It means a lot to represent this franchise. I told [Lakers president] Jeanie [Buss] when I came here that I was going to put this franchise back in the position where it belongs". Also, LeBron commented on how this title triumph should warrant him more respect by the NBA community. " We just want our respect. Rob [Pelinka] wants his respect, coach [Frank] Vogel wants his respect, our organization wants its respect, Lakers nation wants its respect. “And I want my respect too."
It cannot be denied, that what we are witnessing from LeBron James is an unprecedented level of greatness. Potentially when it’s all said and done, LeBron Raymond James may go down with the most complete career in NBA history.
The Miami Heat, unfortunately, could not replicate the heroic performance on game 5 on Friday night. However, they ultimately gave the best representation of themselves. The unity and leadership shown by franchise player Jimmy Butler have captivated NBA fans" imagination as now we truly do realize the greatness of Jimmy Butler and the impact he’s had on this franchise.
Miami failed to assert their offensive prowess, led by Butler, due to the Laker"s fast-paced defensive intensity. It appeared that the Heat had nothing left in the tank and was completely hampered due to purple abs gold’s relentless defensive pressure.
Following the trophy presentation, Jimmy Butler expressed his enjoyment in his debut season with Miami. "We really enjoyed playing with one another, really enjoyed being around one another… I just appreciate it and am thankful I had the opportunity to be able to do that."
There we have it, a year-long season has officially come to an end, with the Los Angeles Lakers clinching a sentimental 17th Championship.
