There have been extremely successful teams impacting the offseason so far. The teams that have had a very successful offseason so far is the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.

Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens had an extremely successful offseason due to hitting everything on their wish list. In order to get better, they needed to get a backup goalie. Jake Allen is a very good goaltender that can start on most teams. He will be a very reliable backup for the Habs as he had a very good stint in St. Louis. The Canadiens are allocating 14 million dollars to goalies next season which is fine. Allen will be getting a lot of wins as a backup. This only helps their starting goaltender Carey Price as he can get better rested through the season.

The Canadiens need a physical and steady defender. They bring in Joel Edmundson. He isn’t a top defender but he is very physical, a decent skater, got a big shot, a big character guy, and add a physical element they have been missing.

Per Complete Hockey

They need size on the wing with a scoring factor. This is where Josh Anderson comes into play. They traded Max Domi for him. They sign him to a 7-year with 5.5 million a year contract. This is a player that can score a lot of goals, is an incredible skater, and adds physicality to the position.

The Canadiens get more goal scoring at the wing with the addition of Tyler Toffoli. He is a player that can get you 20 to 30 goals. He is an excellent play driver which means shot shares and solid scoring chances. He is also a great power-play scorer.

The Montreal Canadiens pretty much met their hardcore needs. This has been a successful offseason and spent the money in the right way. This team will only get better in the next couple of seasons.

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche additions:

The Colorado Avalanche subtractions:

The Colorado Avalanche looks like they lost a lot but the three names of quality make this team even better than they already were. They had a really successful offseason with these three players and also having resigned to Andre Burakovsky, Valeri Nichushkin, and Ryan Graves.

This team will miss Nikita Zaddorov but Brandon Saad gives them a different element. He plays extremely well with good players around him. He is big, fast, physical. He doesn’t need offensive support to create because he can do it on his own. He will easily get the Avalanche 18 to 20 goals while playing on the third line. He has the pace to play with Colorado which will make this team more dangerous.

The Colorado Avalanche picked up Devon Toews from the New York Islanders which were in extreme cap trouble. They got Toews for a steal. He is a puck willing defenseman. He is a solid and steady player that can play the top four in minutes.

Per New York Islanders

This Avalanche team is poised to make yet another run for a Stanley Cup Final due to their successful offseason. They did great maneuvering their cap space and have plenty of cap space to extend Toews.

Conclusion

Two different teams are having one goal in mind. The Colorado Avalanche is already a front runner for the cup but added a few more pieces for nearly nothing. The Montreal Canadiens are a team on the rise and has enhanced the team to get a solid window for three or four seasons.
