Mississippi State Falls to 1-3 After Loss to Aggies

QB

Mississippi State has extended the losing streak to three. Once again, it was more of the same to let the Bulldog hopeful down. K.J Costello has disappointed Mississippi State fans this season after an insane Week One to start the season. After interviewing outside of Davis Wade Stadium, fans had much to say about the quarterback position moving forward.

Let “The Moose” have his shot.

Tate Mascari

For fans that don’t know, “The Moose” is Jalen Mayden‘s self-anointed nickname. Mayden, the third-string quarterback, would provide a different skill set at the position. He’s the only dual-threat quarterback on the roster, and an offense that’s struggling to execute could use a guy that can use his legs to make plays. Costello had to run around and extend plays a few times against the Aggies. Obviously, Costello isn’t the guy to make plays with his legs, so why not let the young QB get a chance.

Mayden was a four-star quarterback coming out of high school. Many might know him from a viral video where he left Cam Newton speechless.

Air Raid

The air raid just isn’t ready yet it seems. Whether it be personnel or just the offense being out of sync, it’s evident that there’s some work to be done. Will Rogers looked far more comfortable in the offense than Costello, but it’s hard to believe that the freshman will start against Alabama in two weeks. Neither quarterback was able to really move the ball downfield. Mississippi State scored once on offense the whole game. After Week One, there really hasn’t been any rhythm on offense. The only other score against the Aggies came on a 60-yard interception return by Emmanuel Forbes.

Ultimately, turnovers killed the Bulldogs yesterday. A blocked punt, an interception, and a lost fumble all played huge roles in Texas A&M sucking all the momentum out of Davis Wade Stadium early, and making it difficult for the Bulldogs to mount a comeback.

Moving Forward

Mississippi State has a bye week next week but will travel to play Alabama the following week. Mike Leach will have two weeks to prepare for a loaded ‘Bama team.

What do you think about Kadarius Calloway flipping his commitment?
