The Houston Rockets were one of two teams left in the NBA without a head coach. Oklahoma City and the Rockets were still in the process of finding their next head coach and time was running out.
The new NBA season may start soon as December 22nd and finally, word has come down that the Rockets are finalizing a deal with Stephen Silas.
Silas is a former player and has been an assistant for 20 years. He has spent the last couple of years helping craft one of the best offensive in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks. Known as a players coach with a great offensive mind, Silas will take over a team with two of the top-20 players in the league.
Silas has coached players like Steph Curry, Kemba Walker, and Luka Doncic to name a few. He was heavily involved in Curry’s development as a rookie as well as Doncic. Silas’s first job will be bringing in his assistant coaches to round out the staff.
