The Cleveland Browns and Rashard Higgins are talking an extension, according to Josina Anderson.

Browns and Rashard Higgins

Higgins has had his struggles with the Browns, so this comes as great news for Baker Mayfield and fans. By struggles, I mean he wasn’t put on the field even after showing immense chemistry with the Browns’ young franchise quarterback. Last season it was Freddie Kitchens, and early this season, it was Kevin Stefanski.

Higgins kept his head down and worked hard to find his way back into the lineup. Injuries also had a hand in it, but it is the work put in by Higgins that has had the coaches and front office take notice.

Since being inserted back into the lineup in week five, Higgins has caught 24 balls for 391 yards. It has been clear that the chemistry that Mayfield and Higgins showed in 2018 is still as strong as ever.

It was that relationship that kept Higgins in Cleveland this offseason. Mayfield reached out to the 26-year-old wideout and asked him to come back for one more season. Even with other offers on the table, Higgins chose to trust Baker and took a one-year $900,000 deal in hopes of increasing his value. He has certainly accomplished that and could be looking at a shiny new contract with the team that drafted him way back in 2016.
