When Alec Bohm arrived in the city of brotherly love, a lot of fans and front office members believed he would be a big piece in the Phillies’ future. Now after a solid season, a lot of people are expecting him to break out and post a great sophomore season in the Major Leagues. He has all of the tools to be a great third baseman in MLB.
In the 2020 campaign, Alec Bohm got called up from the Minor Leagues in hopes to have a big impact on a Phillies lineup that has been looking to finally make a splash in the MLB. In the Minor Leagues, Alec Bohm posted a career batting average of .293, 21 home runs, 97 RBIs, 96 strikeouts, an on-base percentage of .368, and a slugging percentage of .474.
After the 2020 season, Bohm nearly won National League Rookie of the Year but was beaten by Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Devin Williams. Now in his sophomore year, Bohm looks to be the hitter that the Phillies have been longing for. Bohm has all of the tools to become a star hitter in MLB.
Ever since he was scouted by MLB scouts, they could all see that Bohm had a lot of potential to become a great player in MLB. He has a great bat, having the ability to generate a lot of contact and power from his swing. We can also see that he has the ability to play the field at a high level. The only knock against Alec Bohm"s game is his speed, however, for his size, Alec Bohm moves pretty well. For someone who is 6"5", he can move pretty well.
Alec Bohm"s 2020 Numbers
In his first campaign in Philadelphia, Bohm posted a .338 batting average, with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs, and only 36 strikeouts. This season was shortened due to the global pandemic that is especially affecting the sports world, so he was only posting these stats during MLB"s shortened 60 game season. He also played less than 60 games due to him being called up after Opening Day. He was called up through 18 games of the regular season.
When he did arrive in Philadelphia he did breakout and he did it almost immediately. He provided a much-needed insurance bat that the Phillies had to add to their lineup. While observing Alec Bohm, you could see flashes of how good this young player can truly become. You can see that he has a good swing, batting .338 as a rookie is quite impressive, and he could play the field pretty well for someone who is just starting their young Major League career.

Bohm has the potential to break out, he has all of the tools and talents to become a great third baseman in MLB. Scouts and analysts were saying that Bohm has a bright future in the Major Leagues, and if you watch him you can see he actually does. Alec Bohm will break out even more and has the potential to become a star player in the Major Leagues.
