With a pandemic laden 2020 now in the books, Bahrain based Brave Combat Federation is looking to hit the ground running in 2021, by kicking off the year with their first-ever trip to Russia. Going down at the WOW arena in Sochi on January 16th, 2021 at 6:00 AM EST on BraveCFTV.

BCF46 Fight Card

The promotion, which had promised to enter Russia with a bang, recently announced their fight card has expanded from 9 fights to 12. Culminating in a historic battle for the Super Lightweight World Championship at 165lbs, in a bout between champion Eldar Eldarov (12-1) and Brazillian challenger Leonardo Mafra (15-5)

Eldar Eldarov

The champion Eldarov comes into this fight riding an 11 fight win streak dating all the way back to 2010. With notable wins over Henrique Gomes and Mounir Lazzez. His lone loss was in 2009 to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Leonardo Mafra

Mafra has won 2 of his last 3 fights coming into this bout, and is (1-1) since joining Brave CF in 2018. With his last fight being a decision victory over Djamil Chan at Brave CF 25.

With Eldarov’s pedigree and willingness to stand up and bang or take the fight to the ground, Mafra looks to be in for an uphill battle to pull the win out here. He will have to make this fight ugly and force Eldarov to make mistakes. If he can’t do that, then I see Eldarov and his winning ways propelling him to the win and maybe an eventual UFC contract like Brave CF alumni Khamzat Chimaev.
