Dana White Can See UFC BMF Belt Being Defended

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 02: Jorge Masvidal celebrates his victory over Nate Diaz (doctor's stoppage) in their welterweight bout for the BMF title during the UFC 244 event at Madison Square Garden on November 02, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

On an ESPN+ live stream Q/A hosted by Lara Sanko, Dana White answered fan questions. He said something peculiarly interesting about Jorge Masvidal and the UFC BMF belt. Also, let’s not gloss over the fact that he (sort of) announced Justin Gaethje vs. Charles Oliveira as well.

A Defense of the “one and done” UFC BMF belt?

So, what’s all this about? Well, during the live stream, you could tell the fans were having fun essentially “playing matchmaker.” One of the questions, prompted big news from the boss man.

The question was: “Will Jorge Masvidal ever defend the BMF title?”, and I was preparing for a solid “no” from the boss man. Surprisingly, Dana said: “I could see that happening.”

While we all know that Jorge Masvidal promised Nate Diaz a rematch, I think we, and Dana, are talking about something different. No, I think what Dana White meant, was he could see Jorge Masvidal defending the belt against someone else, maybe after Nate? Or, (more speculation) he could’ve been saying that he could see the UFC BMF belt being defended over and over. Who knows, maybe it’s here to stay? As a sort of ultimate “money-fight” title? Anyways, that’s all for now fight fans! Make sure to check back as the story updates!
