The Villanova Wildcats Are Back After 27 Days!

Does December 23rd ring a bell? That was the last time the Villanova Wildcats took the floor this season. They faced one of their fellow Big East opponents, Marquette, and won by nearly 20 points to improve their record to 8-1. Today is January 19th and the Villanova Wildcats will finally be returning to the court tonight against Seton Hall.

After head coach Jay Wright got COVID, the basketball program was put on pause. The virus was passed around the program and the Wildcats had to keep postponing games. Nearly a month has passed and their season is finally resuming.

Before the season was put on pause, Villanova was dominating. Despite losing their third game of the season to Virginia Tech, the Wildcats were able to record a six-game win streak. They have so far dominated Big East play, as they stand 3-0 so far against teams in their conference. The Wildcats will look to extend their win streak tonight and pick up right where they left off.

Wildcat Updates:

Although during Villanova’s hiatus for the last month, there has been some news regarding certain players. You may have heard Villanova’s four-star recruit Trey Patterson left high school this past week and enrolled at Villanova for this upcoming semester. Patterson is now able to practice with the Wildcats as soon as January 25th. However, we are unsure if he will play this season. Either way, this is very exciting news for Villanova, as the Rutgers Prep standout is now on the team a year earlier than expected.

One other thing to note is sophomore guard Bryan Antoine now seems to be fully healthy. Antoine was a five-star recruit heading out of high school but hasn’t really made an impact for the Wildcats yet. We are hoping to see more of Antoine this season, hoping he can become a valuable asset down the road for the team.

Make sure to tune in tonight at 9:00 PM EST as the Villanova Wildcats will take on the Seton Hall Pirates at the Finneran Pavillion.
