Eddie Alvarez Booked to Fight on April 7

The Underground King, Eddie Alvarez makes his long-awaited octagon return! The former Bellator and UFC Champion will face ONE Championship title contender Iuri Lapicus. These Lightweights will clash on April 7, notably being the co-main event on the Demetrious Johnson vs Adriano Moraes card. The fight was announced by ONE Championship on their Twitter Account.

Eddie Alvarez Past Activities in ONE

Eddie Alvarez last fought in August of 2019, where he made a comeback and submitted former ONE Lightweight Champion, Eduard Folayang. With the win, he was granted a fight with Dagi Arslanaliev in the ONE Lightweight Grand Prix finals but was forced to remove himself due to injury. Eddie Alvarez and Dagi Arslanaliev were rescheduled to happen in the middle of 2020 but due to COVID-19, it did not happen.

This was an unexpected opponent for Eddie Alvarez, as it was inclined that he and Dagi would meet next. Even so, Iuri Lapicus is still a formidable opponent for Eddie. Lapicus’ last fought against current ONE Lightweight Champion, Christian Lee, but he was knocked out in the first round.
