Top 3 Fantasy Football Destinations for Free agent WR Curtis Samuel

A 2nd round pick from 2017, free agent WR Curtis Samuel finally broke out during his contract year in 2020. He has dealt with inconsistency at QB and even though he got a slight upgrade with Teddy Bridgewater this year, he could really take another step with a better signal-caller. Some very exciting free agency destinations could boost his fantasy stock. Let’s go over the top 3 fantasy football destinations for free agent WR Curtis Samuel.

Free Agent WR Curtis Samuel Destination #1

Green Bay Packers

The cheesehead nation would welcome Curtis Samuel with open arms. After fading the WR position in the 2020 draft, the Packers relied on Davante Adams heavily. After Adams, they only had Allen Lazard, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Marquez Valdes- Scantling at the WR position. While I do like Lazard, it is easy to see that they would benefit from upgrading their WR corps. They have made it to the NFC Championship with their current roster so it is crazy to think they could be even better! Their cap situation is not great so it may take some financial gymnastics to bring him in, but it would be completely worth it.

What would this mean for Samuel? Well, that is an easy question to answer! He would have a major upgrade at QB. Playing with an All-Pro QB that would be able to get him the ball easily and a head coach that would scheme him into the gameplan would increase his fantasy value vastly.

Just him signing with Green Bay would mean stocks up for Samuel. I also believe he could be the lightning to AJ Dillon‘s thunder! Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones are free agents and Samuel can spell Dillon at times as a change of pace back with his 4.3 speed. Being the WR2 for Aaron Rodgers used to mean fantasy relevance when he had a true second option. This is absolutely my favorite landing spot for him.

Free Agent WR Curtis Samuel Destination #2

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have one of the best WRs in the league in DeAndre Hopkins (DHop) and a very talented young QB in Kyler Murray. The problem is, beyond DHop, they have good, not great options. Larry Fitzgerald is probably retiring, Christian Kirk is very up and down, and the combo of Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson is good for a couple of big plays here and there.

The Cardinals are the second most exciting landing spot for me. He will be in an inventive offense and may even get reps at RB with Kenyan Drake becoming a free agent and Chase Edmonds the only other real option at RB. Samuel can operate in the short to intermediate routes and take some attention away from DHop. Samuel can do it all on the offensive side of the ball and I would love to see how Kingsbury would utilize him in their offense. At the rate that the Cardinals pass the ball, Samuel could be a PPR monster!

Free Agent WR Curtis Samuel Destination #3

Carolina Panthers

Last of my top three fantasy football destinations for Curtis Samuel is his current team, the Carolina Panthers. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the offense, but they have shown that they can support three fantasy football relevant WR’s. With Joe Brady as the OC, they fit their scheme to their players and it shows. With Mike Davis hitting free agency, Curtis Samuel can serve as a change of pace back to CMC.

It is not something that a team wants to do, taking CMC off of the field, but Curtis Samuel has shown to be a very efficient runner. He toted the rock 41 times for 200 yards and two TDs, good for 4.9 yards per carry. Even if he does not receive a ton of carries he can remain a decent WR3 for your team with the volume he receives in the passing game. He had 97 targets securing 77 of them for 851 yards and three TDs. I would love to see him upgrade at QB, but this could be one of those if it ain’t broke don’t fix it type of situations.

How to Approach Free Agent WR Curtis Samuel This Offseason

So many things can happen in free agency, but free agent WR Curtis Samuel should be a value either way. If you are playing dynasty I would advise you to buy in now just in case he does get picked up by the Packers or the Cardinals. This would immensely increase his fantasy football stock, and you could even flip him if you wanted to. Samuel has proven to be the versatile WR that many wanted Tavon Austin to be when he was drafted. Don’t let this swiss army knife of a WR slip away from you, draft him anywhere you can, and go out and acquire him in dynasty! IT IS CURTIS SAMUEL SZN!
