The “Thunder Kid” Lito Adiwang made an impressive performance in ONE: Unbreakable. Kicking off the card, the Thunder Kid produced an emphatic second-round knockout win over Japan’s Namiki Kawahara. Lito Adiwang improves his professional record to (12 wins and 3 losses).
Adiwang now has six ONE Championship wins, a lone loss being his last fight against Hiroba Minowa. Adiwang admittedly said that the preparation for this fight was the hardest that he has ever had. He was coming off a loss and just recently, he experienced a personal tragedy after the death of his mother.
Lito Adiwang said that he had emotional doubts and fears coming into the fight. Nevertheless, he was happy that he got the win. Check out the Thunder Kid’s full post-fight interview with Overtime Heroics.
Lito Adiwang Post-Fight Interview
You looked comfortable during the fight, just smiling to your opponent. Was that because you knew you could knock him out?
“Yeah, I’m just glad and happy that I came out ready to bang. As he has said in the [pre-fight] interviews, he wanted to knock me out and I’m happy to welcome him. That was why I wanted to give him a chance, but yeah I got the knockout”
Are you looking to have a fast turnaround now in the circle after this win?
“Yeah, I’m looking for a fast turnaround after this win. I’m hoping that if everything goes well, I’ll go back and try to deal with, and let my emotions out. Honestly, because of the tragedy that happened to my mom, actually I blocked that in my mind to focus on this fight. I did not mourn, I did not try to do anything for her. So after this, I’ll go home and try to fix everything. And after this, I’ll be back in the gym ready. My plan is to go and achieve my dreams this year”
Lito Adiwang was expressive and emotional when he talked about how he had a very tough time dealing with so much going on with his life. For sure, his win over Namiki Kawahara was a much-needed one. With him looking for a fast turnaround, it will be a matter of months until we get to see another highlight reel from the Thunder Kid!
