MLB Breaking News: Steven Matz Traded to Blue Jays

MLB Breaking News: The Toronto Blue Jays have made a trade with the New York Mets for left-handed pitcher Steven Matz. In return, Toronto will send three pitchers: Sean Reid-Foley, Yennsy Diaz, and Josh Winckowski to the Mets.

MLB Breaking News: Blue Jays Deal for Matz

Steven Matz, now 30 years old has spent his entire six-year career with the New York Mets. Since 2015 the left-handed starter has a 31-41 record with a 4.35 ERA. He has started 107 games in six seasons while racking up 552 strikeouts, Matz also recorded a complete game with no runs allowed in 2019.

In 2020 Steven Matz appeared in nine games, he started six and finished with an 0-5 record and a career-worst 9.68 ERA. It"s safe to say Matz is definitely looking for a better season, with a fresh start on a new team.

Blue Jays: Mets Receive Three Pitchers In Deal

The Blue Jays traded pitcher Sean Reid-Foley after three seasons with the team. They also send two prospects to the New York Mets, Yannsy Diaz, and Josh Winckowski, both are right-handed pitchers. Toronto has completed a massive overhaul in the last month, all of which have been free-agent signings. This is the first trade made this offseason.
