Mike Perry vs Daniel Rodriguez Signed for UFC Fight Night 189

First reported by our friends over at Fighter Path to be in the works, Mike Perry vs Daniel Rodriguez is now signed and scheduled for UFC Fight Night 189 on April 10th. Both men will be looking to bounce back from losses; and given their style, this fight should be a barn burner!

The Road to Mike Perry vs Daniel Rodriguez

Mike Perry (14-7, 7-7 UFC) is 2-3 in his last five matches, with his last fight being against Tim Means at UFC 255, which resulted in a decision loss. Before that, he beat Mickey Gall pretty dominantly at UFC Vegas 4 via decision. He did that without a coach and with his pregnant girlfriend as the only one in his corner. That win personified the outlandish things that Perry is now known and loved for but also served as an impressive win.

To win that battle against Gall, Perry actually utilized a lot of the different facets of his game. In his fight against Daniel Rodriguez, he could potentially have to do the same.

Daniel Rodriguez (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is a prospect that is relatively new to the UFC. Earning most of his pro experience under the promotional banner of Combate Americas, “D-Rod” first had his chance for a UFC contract in 2019.

Although he would win his Dana White’s Contender Series fight against Rico Farrington via decision, his efforts would not be rewarded with a contract. Rodriguez went on to fight for SMASH Global after that and won the SMASH Global Welterweight Championship.

Making a big splash in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 167 as a late replacement for Ramazan Emeev against Tim Means, Rodriguez would win a Performance of the Night bonus for his second-round submission over “The Dirty Bird.” At UFC Vegas 1, just barely three months after his debut, “D-rod” would beat Gabriel Green via decision. Then, he went on to knockout Dwight Grant at UFC on ESPN 15.

This Mike Perry vs Daniel Rodriguez fight has the makings of a banger, so write it down! This is a fight worth remembering!
