UFC Fight Night 188 Adds Johnny Eduardo vs Anthony Birchak

Johnny Eduardo (28-12 MMA, 3-4 UFC) has been hinting at a return for over a year now but could never get pen to paper. For the first time in over two years, we will see the BJJ black belt inside the octagon. At 42 years of age, Eduardo will look to earn wins across three different decades.

In his last two outings, Eduardo suffered defeats at the hands of Nathaniel Wood and Matthew Lopez. Eduardo holds UFC victories over Manvel Gamburyan, Eddie Wineland, and Jeff Curran.

Anthony Birchak (15-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC) recently returned to the octagon for the first time since July of 2016. The Tucson, Arizona native was never offered another contract despite ending his first stint with a win. After a brief stint in other promotions, Birchak faced long-time friend Gustavo Lopez in November. Birchak lost the bout due to a first-round submission. Birchak owns UFC wins over Dileno Lopes and former UFC title challenger Joe Soto.

Although not yet announced by the promotion, UFC Fight Night 188 is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Middleweight contenders Kevin Holland and Derek Brunson are reportedly set to serve as the event’s headliner. It is not known where the Johnny Eduardo vs Anthony Birchak fight will land on the card but it will certainly be one to watch!

The full UFC Fight Night 188 card has yet to be announced, but the expected fights on tap are listed below:

• Welterweight: Song Kenan vs Max Griffin

• Women’s Bantamweight: Julia Avila vs Julija Stoliarenko
• Middleweight: Trevin Giles vs Dricus du Plessis
• Women’s Strawweight: Kay Hansen vs Cheyanne Buys
• Heavyweight: Tai Tuivasa vs Don’Tale Mayes
• Flyweight: JP Buys vs Bruno Silva
• Bantamweight: Johnny Eduardo vs Anthony Birchak
